Caseb Naturals Founder Discusses Dragon’s Blood

Thank you Ingrid Chuley, founder of Caseb Naturals, for telling us about Dragon’s Blood.
What are the skin-loving benefits of Dragon’s Blood?
Dragon’s Blood is a resin that comes from a tree species which grows in the Amazon Rainforest of South America.  Dragon’s Blood has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties, which make it an excellent ingredient for skin conditions which cause “flare ups”, such as, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis or skin that is visibly damaged (highly dry, flaky, red).  It contains an active alkaloid, called Taspine, which promotes rapid skin cell regeneration and stimulates scab formation (or “healing” of skin).  Its use as a natural remedy dates back to the 1600’s, when it is recorded that Spanish naturalist and explorer, Bernabe Cobo, documented and stated that Dragon’s Blood had healing effects on wounded skin.  He also documented and explained how the indigenous “Jibaros” tribe used to apply the Dragon’s Blood to open wounds and skin which was affected by viral and bacterial infections.  In recent years, it has been studied on skin which is affected by eczema, seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis.
What products include this ingredient?
This ingredient is in our Dragon’s Blood Body Balm which is to be applied directly onto affected skin areas.  It is also included in our Dragon’s Blood Baby Balm, which is crafted to be used on baby’s skin to create a protective layer when skin is affected by diaper rash.
What results can you expect to see?
You can expect to see immediate smoothing and hydration of the skin.  The best results, however, can be seen after 2 to 4 weeks of consistent use (at least twice a day), where skin is visibly softer than it had been prior to starting to use the Dragon’s Blood Body Balm and no longer chaffed or having a “wounded” appearance.
What customers are saying about it…
We get a lot of repeat orders for the Dragon’s Blood Body Balm, because it works!  We’ve had customers with eczema who have tried it and they say:
“I’ve tried so many creams that my dermatologist has given me and it works to deal with the symptoms, but as soon as I stop it comes back. With the Dragon’s Blood Body Balm, my skin is actually getting better. I have recommended it to my sister and other friends/family who deal with the same issues as myself.”
“My skin used to get raw as soon as I stopped using steroid creams on my affected areas and using the Dragon’s Blood Body Balm, my skin has become, smoother, softer and not irritated.”
“Morning after 1st treatment with Dragon’s Blood Body Balm, the chaffed areas on both my son’s and my skin are much improved! Many thanks!”

We have people who have tried it once and come back for more, with a sense of urgency!  To me, it is a true blessing and incredibly rewarding to be able to craft a product in the U.S., using an ingredient from the Amazon Rainforest in Perú, which is where my roots are from!

Bonus question: Name one product that you can’t live without. (Just for fun, cuz we all want to know!)

Ok, from my line, I cannot live without the Brazilian Body Butters.  They’re actually whipped so they have this amazing luxurious, fluffy texture, which goes on super smoothly.

Edible Facial’s Take on Caseb Naturals
I’ve been a fan of Ingrid’s products since she sent me samples for review here.  The Dragon’s Blood Balm is thicker than the whipped body butters, so I’ve been using it quite a bit on my feet where dryness shows up the most. It has been smooth sailing from there, though the dryness is probably a sign of dehydration that I’ve been working hard at overcoming and is important not to cover up or ignore.  An added bonus is that her products smell delicious and use no synthetic fragrances. That’s where many “natural” companies trip up. My kids can use her products without any problem.
Full list of ingredients: USDA Organic Certified Shea Butter, USDA Organic Certified Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Dragon’s Blood (Croton Lechleri) Resin Extract, USDA Organic Certified Tapioca Powder, Food-Grade Triethyl Citrate, Vitamin E, 100% Pure Essential Oils Lavender & Grapefruit.
I like that Ingrid has a strong background in the pharmaceutical industry, so she knows exactly which ingredients work and which to avoid for irritation and toxicity. Her formulas uphold all claims of purity and authenticity. Many formulas are organic, though not certified as yet, and come in eco-friendly, reusable glass jars.

  1. I am a believer in Caseb Natural’s Dragon’s Blood. My comment to Ingrid is the last one quoted above. It’s a truly therapeutic cream. My kids & I also compete for who gets ownership of my little jar of lavender Brazilian Body Butter. We like the buttery texture and mild scent, and it doesn’t sting when you put it on chaffed cheeks.

  2. I have exfoliative keratolysis on my thumbs from May-July or so, and I am curious about whether this would speed up the healing process. My one concern is the grapefruit essential oil. Though I’m sure it’s just a few drops, I wonder whether it will have any effect on me or the anticholesterol medication, Simvastatin, that I take since I have been told by my doctor never to eat or use grapefruit or grapefruit products 😦

    1. Hi Allison. Great to see you here too 🙂 What a treat for me! You have a great question that I forwarded to Ingrid. It would be best for her to address this as she has a strong background in pharmaceuticals. I look forward to reading her response. Thanks for stopping by ❤

    2. Hi neversaydiebeauty! I’m so glad to know that you’re careful based on your medical provider’s recommendations and we know first-hand how frustrating finding truly non-irritating & natural remedies can be. No worries, it sounds like what you’re looking for is some moisture and hydration for the skin in order to help smooth it. Given your concern about the 100% pure essential oils of grapefruit in our Dragon’s Blood Body Balm, I would encourage for you to look at our Brazilian Body Butters instead–based on your concerns either Berry Blossom or Vanilla Chai.
The USDA Organic Certified Brazil Nut Oil in our Brazilian Body Butter Line is not only fair trade and sustainably harvested, but the Brazil Nut oil provides vitamins A, B, C & E as well as selenium, which is an anti-oxidant to promote combating symptoms of dry and/or aging skin. Your skin will absolutely adore its highly absorbent & luxurious texture! They smell delicious and are ultra concentrated to promote smooth skin! Oh and since I’m not a medical provider (though my husband is a Physicians Assistant, which is why I reference his seborrheic dermatitis in my story) http://www.casebnaturals.com/pages/about-us I will give you this disclaimer just for purposes of disclosure. *These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.
